Winter JO Volleyball
Welcome to Eastview Juniors Volleyball!
We've changed our name to reflect our commitment to helping develop Junior volleyball players in the Eastview and Apple Valley area. We strive to develop strong volleyball players AND competitive teams.
We are looking to field five teams of 9 players each for our upcoming season. We will be reducing the number of players on each team from 10 to 9 in order to provide more playing time AND more developmental time with each athlete. Our teams will include: one or two teams at U12s (4th/5th/6th grade), two or three teams at U14s (7th/8th grade), and one or two team at U16s (9th/10th grade). Our teams practice twice each week for 1-1/2 to 2 hours preferably on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday evenings between 6:00pm and 9:45pm. The practice facilities we use are in Apple Valley, Eagan, Bloomington, and Burnsville.
Included in our program we offer positional clinics for setters, outside hitters, middle hitters, and liberos. These clinics are held twice each month from December to April on Friday evenings between 6:00pm and 9:30pm for 1-1/2 hours. Our positional clinics are led by coaches that either work in our JO program or have experience with college level volleyball for the position they are instructing. We are very excited to continue to offer these clinics. Participation in these clinics has been very successful in helping our players to increase the knowledge and skills needed to excel in the sport of volleyball. We will also offer a new conditioning program to all players. More information to come on this new addition.
We are raising our fees this year by $75 per player. The fee increase is a result of decreasing the number of players on each team, the increasing costs of gym time, and lower than anticipated fundraising from our Spring Dig tournaments last season. The program fees for the upcoming season will be $625 for U12s and $775 for U14s and U16s. The fees cover tournaments, coaching, gym time, equipment, and uniforms. The fees are collected in four installments ($175 at registration and then the balance split between the Parent Meeting and January and February installments.)
Our season starts with tryouts in the beginning of November for U12s and U14s and in the middle of November for U16s. Players will be asigned to age groups after the initial tryouts and placed on teams after a few group practices. Practices will begin after tryouts in November with tournaments starting in January and continuing until the middle of April. Each team will compete in the power league at the Midwest Volleyball Warehouse and in four to six tournaments depending on age group.
We do NOT do individual fundraising with our club. Instead we host our Spring Dig tournaments in March. We require each player to provide 4 to 6 hours of volunteering at these tournaments. These hours can be fulfilled by the player and their parents or siblings age 12 and older.
